How Do Integrity, Accountability, and Service Fit In? 3 Part Series
Part 3: Service
“To truly rule is to serve,” says an old Chinese adage. Although the idea of SERVICE is frequently associated with subservience, the most powerful posture of leadership is to empower the values of others through SERVICE.
SERVICE is the ultimate partnership with people. It occurs when we authentically claim, and champion someone else’s excellence, success, and fulfillment.
SERVICE is having the commitment to, and the appreciation for, what it takes to perform beyond our self-imposed limitations. People are grand; they are also deeply inauthentic. Service provides you with the opportunity to champion, and claim the greatness of another, while making room for their embedded inauthenticity.
Service is a state of being. It is both an art, and an honor to catalyze achievements greater than our individual selves. SERVICE is making a pledge, and having an unswerving dedication to someone’s dream or mission, and not relinquishing that pledge until that dream or mission is actualized
SERVICE enables people to look together, free from criticism or accusations, into what will be included here or there to produce the desired result.
SERVICE is tenaciously “partnering” another through the challenges of difficult decisions, confrontive episodes, and the abrupt ceasing of communication.
SERVICE is powerful leadership, and coaching, even in the face of no agreement.
So put your best foot forward, and be all in when it comes to integrity, accountability, and service!
